Loris Karius after Champions League final

Liverpool’s Karius claims he rejected offers from UK to stay with Besiktas

Karius’ time at Liverpool

Loris Karius joined Liverpool in the summer of 2016 from German outfit FSV Mainz.

Liverpool are believed to have paid somewhere around £5.5m for the German’s services.

Karius did not feature very heavily during his first season at Anfield, playing just 16 games across all competitions, only 10 of which came in the Premier League.

The 26-year-old’s game time would improve a lot during the 2017/18 campaign, as he managed 33 appearances across all competitions.

Karius would also play all 13 games for Jurgen Klopp’s side as they reached the 2018 Champions League final.

However, Karius made some rather big errors during said game, which Liverpool lost 3-1, and that was the last time that we saw the shot-stopper in a Reds’ shirt.

Karius to remain at Besiktas

In August of 2018, Karius was sent out on loan to Turkish outfit, Besiktas.

Karius’ loan deal will run until the end of the 2020 season.

Since moving to Besiktas, Karius has featured in 35 games for his new club.

In said games, the keeper has let in 49 goals, and kept six clean sheets.

Despite Karius having a loan deal until 2020, though, we apparently could have seen him back in the UK a lot sooner.

According to the player himself, two clubs from the UK were in contact with his agent, to make offers for the Liverpool man.

Karius also claims that three clubs from Germany lodged bids for his services:

“This season, through my agent, two clubs in the UK, three clubs from Germany, made offers. I rejected them all because Besiktas is special to me. “ As quoted by the Mail.
