Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson set for spell on the sidelines as extent of injury revealed

Jurgen Klopp will be without the services of his experienced midfielder over the coming weeks

An update on the wellbeing of sidelined Liverpool star Jordan Henderson has been provided on Monday evening.

Midfielder Henderson, of course, was forced to sit out the latest edition of the Merseyside Derby this past weekend.

This came after the 32-year-old limped out of the Reds’ dramatic last-gasp downing of Newcastle United last week.

Word, in turn, was forthcoming that Henderson had picked up a hamstring issue, the extent of which would be revealed in due course.

And, as alluded to above, on Monday, precisely that has been confirmed.

The info comes courtesy of the reliable James Pearce of The Athletic, who points towards a predicted spell of around three weeks on the treatment table for Liverpool’s midfield general.

This comes after medical scans unveiled a ‘minor strain’, quelling fears of a potentially extended spell out of action.

Nevertheless, Henderson is expected to sit out upcoming showdowns with Napoli and Ajax on the continent, as well as Premier League fixtures versus Wolves and Chelsea.

The experienced England international maintains hope of returning in time to play his part in the Three Lions’ Nations League clashes with Italy and Germany later this month, though.
