Blow for Liverpool, but it could have been worse
Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp has confirmed that captain Jordan Henderson will be out for around three weeks after suffering a hamstring injury.
Henderson has been brilliant for Liverpool so far this season.
Not only has his leadership proved vital in the Premier League title race, but his performances have also been pretty impressive.
So much so that Henderson is currently the favourite to be named PFA Player of the Year at the end of the season.
However, the Englishman suffered an injury during his side’s 1-0 defeat to Atletico Madrid in their Champions League knockout clash on Tuesday evening.
Thankfully for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp, Henderson shouldn’t be out for too long.
Henderson to be out for roughly three weeks
Speaking ahead of the clash with West Ham on Monday night, Jurgen Klopp confirmed that Henderson will miss roughly three weeks of action.
He was pretty thankful, though, that the injury was not worse, after Harry Kane’s big hamstring injury a couple of months back.
“Hendo, it could have been worse. How we all know, it was a hamstring,” Klopp explained, as quoted by LiverpoolFC.com.
“We heard of different hamstring injuries now around in the Premier League – Harry Kane, for example. It’s not that bad.
“But he will be out, I think, for three weeks or so, which is not cool. But how we see it, we were still lucky. That’s it.”
While it could have been worse, this is still a blow for Liverpool.
If Henderson is out for three weeks, he could miss vital clashes with Chelsea in the FA Cup, and Atletico Madrid in the second leg of the Reds’ Champions League tie.
