Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson aiming to continue at highest level for next six or seven years

Liverpool’s Jordan Henderson aiming to continue at highest level for next six or seven years

Henderson’s time at Liverpool

Jordan Henderson joined Liverpool back in 2011 from Sunderland.

And the midfielder has since gone on to cement himself as a key cog in Liverpool’s midfield.

Under Jurgen Klopp, the Reds have undertaken a major transformation, and Henderson has been central to that.

All told, the Liverpool captain has notched 366 appearances across all competitions for the Merseysiders, in which he has scored 29 and assisted 50.

Henderson has also, of course, guided the club to their 6th Champions League, and first-ever Premier League title.

Henderson aiming to remain at Liverpool for as long as possible

However, with the English international now 30, and his current contract up in 2023, the Liverpool faithful may have been expecting to see their captain moved on over the coming years.

But, if Henderson has his way, the Reds will in fact not be seeing the back of the midfielder for some time.

During a recent interview, the Liverpool skipper spoke about how good he feels from a physical standpoint, before revealing that he hopes to continue playing for both England and Liverpool for as long as possible:

“I’m just turned 30 and I still feel about 25 physically and I feel as good as I’ve ever felt.

“I’m at a good point in my career in terms of my experience and physically there’s not even a question about anything like that at the moment.

“I want to try to play as long as possible. I still love the game and I want to play for England and Liverpool as long as I can.

“I’ve always lived my life the right way in terms of doing everything right, eat the right things, sleep right and live my life the best way.”

Henderson added:

“So even in the next six or seven years I should hopefully be able to perform at the highest level.

“At the minute I feel physically very good and feel I am at a good part of my career in terms of the balance of experience I’ve had in the last 10 years but also I feel very strong.”
