Liverpool’s James Milner reveals his head injury after Southampton

James Milner’s head injury after Southampton

For a large part of Liverpool’s away match at Southampton on Saturday, James Milner moved around the pitch with a huge bandage around his head.

That’s after Milner suffered a head injury when battling for a header with James Ward-Prowse.

The good news for Milner is that he avoided any concussion, and he was able to play on.

On Sunday, however, the Liverpool midfielder revealed the extent of his injury on Instagram.

Making light of the situation, Milner wrote:

Doc had me in stitches yesterday… twice!

One hashtag stood out: #sorehead.

Sadio Mane on Liverpool & fatigue

It’s been a hectic start to the season for Liverpool.

The Reds lost the Community Shield against Man City.

However, Jurgen Klopp’s side have since bounced back with three wins in a row.

Liverpool have beaten Norwich and Southampton in the Premier League, along with a victory in the UEFA Super Cup against Chelsea.

After the Southampton win, Sadio Mane brushed off suggestions that Liverpool are tired:

We know it’s part of our job.

After playing 120 minutes in midweek it wasn’t too easy but we have to do it and we tried to recover well, come back stronger and try to give everything to try to win the games.

“I think the tiredness is here [points to his head]. It was a really important three points, really important.

Southampton 1 – Liverpool 2

On Saturday at St. Mary’s, Liverpool won again, beating Southampton 2-1.

Goals from Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino put Liverpool 2-up on the south coast.

Danny Ings set up a nervous finish after he scored against his former employers.
