Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott bags latest assist to top list of teenage talents across England’s top-4 tiers

Liverpool’s Harvey Elliott bags latest assist to top list of teenage talents across England’s top-4 tiers

On-loan Liverpool starlet Harvey Elliott proved crucial for Blackburn once again this afternoon, as the Riversiders bagged an impressive point at Norwich.

Reds prodigy

17-year-old Elliott has of course long been viewed as one of English football’s standout talents.

The 2018/19 campaign, for example, saw the wide-man become the youngest player to ever feature in the Premier League.

On the back of his move to Liverpool the following summer, however, Elliott unsurprisingly struggled for senior game-time, amid a battle for minutes with the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.

As such, it came as little surprise to see the prodigious teen farmed out on loan back in October, to get his development back on track.

Elliott made the move to the Championship, with Blackburn Rovers.

And to say that the wide-man has since gone on to impress would be putting it lightly.

Despite his tender years, Elliott has not looked at all out of place amongst the talent in England’s 2nd-tier, having established himself as a key cog in Tony Mowbray’s side.

In fact, across 12 appearances between December and January, Elliott managed to directly contribute to a hugely impressive 8 goals.

Elliott makes the difference

And, as outlined above, this afternoon, the teenage attacker’s dazzling exploits only continued.

Whilst recent weeks have seen Elliott’s production take something of a dip, amid a shift in and out of Blackburn’s starting XI, his latest contribution proved key to the club bagging an altogether impressive point.

Mowbray’s men made the trip to Carrow Road a short time ago, for a meeting with Championship table-toppers Norwich City.

The Canaries unsurprisingly took the lead early in the 2nd-half, looking well on their way to another 3-point haul courtesy of Kenny McLean.

Blackburn, though, stood tall, before bagging an all-important equaliser a little over 10 minutes from time.

Elliott – shortly after being introduced off the bench – proved the creator, whipping in a fine set-piece, which was nodded home at the back post by Sam Gallagher.

And, on the back of the action coming to a close at Carrow Road, a hugely impressive statistic surrounding the Liverpool-owned prodigy has since come to the fore online.

As per statisticians OptaJoe, no teenage player across English football’s top-4 tiers has managed to directly contribute to more league goals than Elliott’s 15 to this point in the season:
