Liverpool’s fans fall in love with Alexander-Arnold following free-kick vs Hoffenheim

The supporters of Premier League outfit Liverpool have this evening taken to social media in their droves to praise youngster Trent Alexander-Arnold following his stunning free-kick vs Hoffenheim.


Liverpool travelled to Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim this evening for the first-leg of their Champions League qualifying matchup, with Jurgen Klopp’s side desperate for an advantage to take back to Merseyside.

After an early penalty was fluffed by Hoffenheim striker Andrej Kramaric, the German side continued to dominate proceedings, putting their illustrious rivals on the back-foot for the vast majority of the first-half.


However, the breakthrough did eventually come against the run of play, and it came via a hugely unexpected source.

After Sadio Mane won his side a penalty 10 yards outside the home side’s box with 35 minutes gone, first-team regulars Emre Can and Alberto Moreno stood over the ball, alongside 18-year-old full-back Trent Alexander-Arnold.

To the surprise of onlooking Reds fans, it was youngster Alexander-Arnold who took responsibility for the set-piece.

And if his taking the free-kick in the first place came as a surprise, what proceeded will have been a genuine shock, with the teen stepping up to bend the most magnificent of free-kicks into the bottom right corner of the Hoffenheim goal, leaving Oliver Baumann with absolutely no chance.
