Liverpool’s Dom Solanke to snub Crystal Palace to move to Germany instead

Liverpool’s Dom Solanke to snub Crystal Palace

Bad news for Crystal Palace.

The Eagles are just four points above the Premier League drop zone at the start of 2019.

Crystal Palace have scored the second lowest amount of goals at home in the division: just 5 (Huddersfield have only scored four goals at home).

Wilfried Zaha has gone 12 matches without scoring or assisting in the league for Palace.

Christian Benteke has been sidelined for months, while forgotten man Connor Wickham has only just returned to action after more than a year out with injury.

It’s obvious what Roy Hodgson needs in January. Goals, goals, goals.

Rumours have been rife that Dom Solanke is ready to move to Selhurst Park from Liverpool in the winter window.

Some have even proclaimed the Solanke, Liverpool and Palace deal ‘signed and sealed’.

However according to Sport Bild, Solanke is ready to snub Palace to join Schalke instead.

Why Schalke have the edge over Crystal Palace

Schalke are 13th in the Bundesliga.

After 17 games, the Royal Blues only have 18 points on the board.

Schalke are just four points clear of the relegation zone in the German top flight.

According to Sport Bild, Schalke are close to agreeing a loan deal with Liverpool for Solanke until the end of the season.

Schalke reportedly have an edge over the Eagles as their sporting director Christian Heidel has a good relationship with Jurgen Klopp.

Domenico Tedesco is the current manager at Schalke.

Solanke may also be looking at how some of his peers have been getting on in the Bundesliga this term.

Reiss Nelson has joined Hoffenheim from Arsenal in a loan deal and the youngster has been superb in both the league and in the Champions League.

Moreover, Jadon Sancho has been one of the stars of the Bundesliga season since he left Man City to join Borussia Dortmund.
