Manchester City could have been 2-up at half time
Liverpool’s dominant display at Anfield last week means that Manchester City have to beat Liverpool by more than 3 goals tonight in order to progress to the semi finals of the Champions League.
Gabriel Jesus gave City the lead after less than 2 minutes which was the perfect start for the home side but City failed to capitalise after that.
Guardiola’s team hit the post through Bernardo Silva and had plenty of opportunities but none were as good as Leroy Sane’s.
Leroy Sane headed home for the hosts but his goal was ruled out for offside.

As you can see from the picture above, Sane was clearly onside. Especially as the ball came off James Milner to the German winger.
The referee has had a difficult game and many City fans (including Pep Guardiola) have felt that some decisions have gone against them.
BT Sport pundit and former Premier League referee Chris Foy believes that the referee has got the decision wrong and the goal should have stood.
It certainly makes the game more interesting a City desperately need 2 goals in the second half to keep their Champions League dreams alive.
Can City make it through?
There have been 15 goals in the three games between the two sides so far this season before tonight’s match.
City beat Liverpool 5-0 at the Etihad earlier in the season and have shown their quality tonight.
News has come in that Guardiola has been sent to the stands for the second half so the City players will have to keep their cool for the next 45 minutes.
Sane and Bernardo have been making it difficult for the Reds all night and the second half will surely be entertaining.
City fans will be hoping that they don’t have any more blatant goals disallowed…
