Liverpool transfer news: Two players to depart as a third linked with a move away

In this article, we will cover all of today’s Liverpool transfer news

Marco Grujic departs

In the first of two possible departures from Liverpool this week, Marco Grujic has left the club to join FC Porto, where he spent last season on loan, as per a statement on Liverpool’s official website.

Tranfer journalist Fabrizio Romano sheds more light on the deal, revealing that the Serbian midfielder has put pen to paper on a five year deal in Portugal. This was despite a late bid from Italian outfit Sassuolo.

Meanwhile, Neil Jones, Liverpool correspondent at Goal, reports that the fee paid is 10.5 million pounds, with a 10% sell-on fee, which could net Liverpool further profit in the future.

Taiwo Awoniyi also to depart the club

As per Neil Jones, Liverpool are set to confirm a double departure with forward Taiwo Awoniyi due to join Union Berlin this summer for 6.5 million pounds.

Awoniyi has been on Liverpool’s books since 2015, but has never appeared for the club, instead being loaned out to clubs in Germany and Belgium. His most recent spell, at Union Berlin, saw the Nigerian net 5 goals and provide 3 assists in 21 appearances for the club, a return good enough to convince them to part with 6.5 million pounds for his services on a permanent basis.

Harry Wilson expected to follow out of the door

Meanwhile, Harry Wilson is expected to follow the above pair out of Liverpool in the not too distant future. The Welshman was on loan at Cardiff last campaign, where the 24 year old contributed seven goals and a further 12 assists in 37 appearances.

However, if Neil Jones is to be believed, it is fellow Championship club Fulham that are leading the race for his signature, although there is plenty of interest elsewhere which could spark a bidding war for Wilson’s services.

The three departures would net Liverpool upwards of 30 million pounds, which could prove vital in their pursuit of midfield cover.
