Liverpool & Tottenham: Jose Mourinho makes his Champions League predictions

Liverpool vs Barcelona

Liverpool will host Barcelona in the second-leg of their Champions League semi-final on Tuesday.

Jurgen Klopp’s side have it all to do at Anfield, after they lost 3-0 at the Nou Camp.

Liverpool didn’t play badly in the first-leg and actually looked the better side in periods, but when you have Lionel Messi in your team you always have a chance of coming out on top.

And Jose Mourinho has since given his prediction for the upcoming second-legs of both Champions League semi-finals.

While Mourinho conceded that Liverpool are a tough nut to crack at home, he believes Barca will come out on top, especially if they manage an away goal:

“I know that Liverpool at Anfield is really hard, the team is good, but if Barcelona score one goal, they have to concede five.

“I think it’s too much and I think the team (Barcelona) is with that appetite. I think Messi is dragging everybody with him for that appetite to make it happen. I think Barcelona has it.”

Ajax vs Tottenham

Mourinho also had his say on the Ajax vs Tottenham tie taking place on Wednesday.

Spurs hosted Ajax earlier this week and lost 1-0.

And, once again, the outlook appears bleak for the English side, according to Mourinho.

Mourinho goes on to praise Ajax’s home record, and then talk about how much Tottenham missed Harry Kane and Heung-min Son in the first-leg:

“Looking to the history of the Champions League, Ajax are better away than at home.

“They’ve had three victories in England, Spain and Italy, they played against the top countries, even against Benfica, nothing was easy for them and they were magnificent.

“At home, as I was saying, they have their style of play but so do Tottenham and I think Tottenham knows that they also can [progress].

“To play without [Harry] Kane is difficult, to play without Kane and Son [Heung-min] at the same time is even more difficult and next time at least Son is there.”As quoted by the Mirror.

Son will return for the second leg after severing his one-match ban.
