Chelsea 2 – Manchester City 0
The unbeaten Manchester City run is over!
Chelsea have taken down Pep Guardiola’s side at Stamford Bridge in one of the big Premier League results of the season.
Goals from N’Golo Kante and David Luiz did the damage for Chelsea, who picked themselves up from defeat at Wolves in midweek to beat the champions.
Eden Hazard set up both goals for Chelsea.
The Belgian set up N’Golo Kante for the strike that put Chelsea 1-0 up just before half-time. And, David Luiz headed home a Hazard corner with just over ten minutes to go.
Chelsea’s win over Manchester City not without controversy
There is little doubt that Chelsea rode their luck in the first half against Manchester City.
The N’Golo Kante goal was their first on target in the whole match and it came after City had spurned some good opportunities.
The second half was much more controlled from Chelsea, who more than played their part and restricted a Manchester City side that finally looked like missing Sergio Aguero and Kevin de Bruyne.
The second goal came from a Luiz header from a Hazard corner that appeared to be a Chelsea shot that did not deflect off any of the defenders.
Pep Guardiola made this point to the fourth official once Luiz had scored.
A huge win for Liverpool!
The big winners were undoubtedly Liverpool, even though this win helps Chelsea’s hopes of finishing in the top four.
Liverpool beat Bournemouth 4-0 thanks to a Mo Salah hat-trick earlier in the day.
Liverpool are now the only unbeaten team in the Premier League and this win means they are top of the table.
After Manchester City’s past season and their incredible displays this campaign, well done Liverpool for going top in December!
What a campaign we have to enjoy now…

It's Liverpool's title to lose now. No pressure!

City should be clear at the top of the PL.
BUT a big part of winning a title is hanging in there and getting some good fortune.
It could really be Liverpool’s year.
Funny what spending money can do.

I am at a party Liverpool city center right now. And can tell you. Suddenly feels like Liverpool just won their first title in 28 years. Singing. Tears. And a flare just went off in the toilet 🏴🙌

Funny game. Not as tactically interesting as expected. City better in first half but little penetration, service to Sane not right. Chelsea completely transformed when 1-0 up, more dangerous going forward and solid defensively. Surprisingly little City Plan B or late pressure

CHL 2-0 MCI (FT) – First defeat of Manchester City in the Premier League 2018-19. Liverpool is the new leader and only undefeated. Chelsea is one of the few clubs in the world against which Guardiola has won less times (3) than those he has lost (4).
