Liverpool stars dominate Alan Shearer’s latest Premier League TOTW

MW19 round-up

Match week 19 of the Premier League season took place between the 26th and 27th of December.

The game week began at Tottenham at 12:30 pm UK time on Thursday, with the Lilywhites playing host to Brighton.

After falling behind, Spurs would fight back to clinch a crucial 2-1 victory.

There were then six PL games taking place at 3 pm on December 26th.

Aston Villa beat Norwich in a key relegation-battle scrap, and Bournemouth drew with Arsenal in Mikel Arteta’s first game as Gunners boss.

Elsewhere in the 3 pm games, Chelsea lost to Southampton, Crystal Palace beat West Ham, Everton edged past Burnley and Sheffield United were held to a 1-1 draw by Watford.

Manchester United then hammered Newcastle 4-1 in one of two late kick-offs taking place on Thursday.

The final PL game of December 26th saw Liverpool put Leicester to the sword by four goals to nil.

MW19 would draw to a close on Friday, as Wolves came from two goals down to see off Manchester City, all but ending City’s title hopes.

Shearer’s TOTW

With MW19 over and MW20 just around the corner, Alan Shearer has named his Premier League Team of the Week for the latest set of PL ties.

Rather unsurprisingly, after they demolished Leicester, Liverpool players have dominated Shearer’s TOTW.

Liverpool would have four players named in said team. Those players are Andy Robertson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Virgil van Dijk and Roberto Firmino.

And after their impressive victory over Chelsea, Southampton had two players named in Shearer’s eleven.
