Liverpool monitor Tottenham Hotspur midfielder as Emre Can replacement

Liverpool are monitoring Victor Wanyama’s current situation at Tottenham amid concerns over Emre Can’s future on Meyerside, according to the Daily Mail.

The Kenyan midfielder has been in and out of Mauricio Pochettino’s side in recent weeks having just returned from a long injury lay-off.

The Reds also face competition for the player in the form of both Manchester United and Chelsea who have also shown an interest in signing Wanyama.

Pochettino’s plan

For Tottenham fans concerned at this situation, Pochettino usually is very cautious with rushing players back into his starting line-up after injury.

So far this season, we have seen the Argentine do this with the likes of Danny Rose, Harry Winks and Toby Alderweireld, Wanyama is no exception to this.

No doubts this Premier League trio hold an interest in the 26-year-old, he is one of the league’s finest holding-midfielders, but talk of him being unhappy is very misjudged if it is being based off the player’s recent game time.

Can’s replacement

It is understood that German midfielder Can looks set to leave Liverpool at the end of the season with his contract due to expire in the summer.

The player appears destined to join Italian giants Juventus, leaving the Reds to go in search of a new midfielder.

Liverpool are believed to be keen on signing Tottenham’s Wayama, although, at this moment in time, the player looks unlikely to leave North London.

The Meyersiders, of course, will welcome RB Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita in the summer having agreed a deal with the German club back in August of last year.

Jurgen Klopp, however, wants to add another midfielder to his squad this summer.

Wanyama made a 12-minute cameo against Liverpool at Anfield at the start of the month, netting an incredible equaliser at the Kop End.
