Liverpool midfield problems vs Man City
On Tuesday in the Times, a day before Liverpool welcome Man City to Anfield in the Champions League quarterfinal, there’s a worrying injury update for the Reds.
Jurgen Klopp has some significant midfield injury problems before Wednesday.
Two key players, Emre Can and Adam Lallana, are likely to be out of contention.
Lallana, of course, could be out for the rest of the season following an injury sustained last weekend at Crystal Palace.
Will Emre Can be fit for Man City?
As for German international Emre Can, the situation is touch-and-go. The Times update Liverpool fans on Can’s health problems:
Liverpool are worried about the fitness of Emre Can, who has yet to resume training after a back problem and is a doubt for tomorrow night’s game with Manchester City.
The manager has selected Can in both matches against City in this campaign. He played when Liverpool lost 5-0 at the Etihad — a scoreline that was affected by the sending off of Sadio Mané — but was there when they triumphed 4-3 at Anfield in January.
It’s worth noting that Emre Can was forced out of the German get-together over the recent international break.
The 24-year-old also played no part in the win at Selhurst Park on Saturday.
Will Sergio Aguero play for Man City?
As for Man City, they are likely to be without star striker Sergio Aguero this midweek.
Aguero has been out with a knee injury for a few weeks already. Indeed, the Argentine failed to take part in last weekend’s Premier League match at Everton.
Gabriel Jesus is likely to lead the CIty attack at Anfield on Wednesday. The Brazilian should be supported by Raheem Sterling and Leroy Sane.
