Liverpool may make three changes in the Champions League after Arsenal

Red Star Belgrade vs Liverpool

Liverpool are in Serbia on Tuesday to take on Red Star Belgrade in the Champions League.

If Jurgen Klopp’s side can register the win, Liverpool will move onto nine points in the competition.

When the sides met at Anfield a fortnight ago, Liverpool battered Red Star 4-0.

Liverpool set for four changes after Arsenal

Last weekend in the Premier League, the Reds dropped two points at Arsenal.

To recap, Liverpool’s starting line-up at Arsenal was as follows:

Alisson, Trent Alexander-Arnold, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Andy Robertson, James Milner (C), Fabinho, Gini Wijnaldum, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane.

However, in Tuesday’s edition of the Times, Klopp is predicted to make three changes to that line-up.

Arsenal vs Liverpool: Starting line-ups

Liverpool’s probable XI vs Red Star

Starting with Liverpool’s attack, Roberto Firmino could be given the night off.

Daniel Sturridge is being tipped to lead the Reds attack, with Salah and Mane deployed in their usual positions.

Firmino is arguably in need of break. The Brazilian centre-forward has started all but one league game for the Reds this season.

Moreover, Firmino has played in every league match, while he’s played a total of 69 matches since the start of last season. That’s more than any other player in the Premier League.

At the back, Trent Alexander-Arnold could also be benched.

Dejan Lovren is predicted to play at centre-half, while Gomez may be shunted into the right-back slot.

Adam Lallana could also start in midfield. Fabinho could make way after the Brazilian had an off-night against Arsenal.

Liverpool’s probable XI vs Red Star Belgrade

It’s worth noting that Xherdan Shaqiri has left out of Liverpool’s squad to face Red Star.

Elsewhere, while Jordan Henderson has returned to training after recovering from a hamstring problem, he’s also been left out of the travelling squad.

Finally Nathaniel Clyne is ill.
