Liverpool make contact with Lyon over Houssem Aouar

As per a report from French outlet TeleFoot, Liverpool have requested to be kept informed regarding the availability of Lyon youngster Houssem Aouar.

Aouar, a gifted 20-year-old midfielder, has been on the books of Lyon since 2009.

He broke into the first-team ranks of the Ligue 1 giants for the first time at the beginning of last year, and has since gone on to establish himself as one of the most highly-regarded young talents in French football.

Aouar is regularly lauded for his technical ability and creative flair, and has already been likened to Barcelona legend Andres Iniesta during his fledgling career.

To this point in the current campaign, the versatile midfielder has notched 5 goals and 4 assists across all competitions.

And, as per the aforementioned report from TeleFoot, Aouar’s impressive form at the Groupama Stadium this season has certainly not gone unnoticed across Europe.

According to the French outlet, Liverpool have joined a growing list of suitors for Aouar’s signature.

The Reds are reported to have already made contact with Lyon over the young midfielder. In addition, TeleFoot add that the board of the Merseyside outfit have requested to be kept informed regarding Aouar’s potential availability.

Liverpool are not the only Premier League club to have been linked with Aouar of late, though.

Both Chelsea and Arsenal have also been named as admirers of the French U21 international’s talents over recent weeks.

In addition, Aouar’s showing during the Champions League group stage clash between Lyon and Manchester City last week is said to have led to the Citizens immediately making contact with the youngster’s entourage.
