As per numerous reports across the media this afternoon, Liverpool have been joined by Premier League rivals Manchester City and Serie A side Inter Milan in the race to sign RB Leipzig star Naby Keita.
Keita, a 22-year-old Guinean international, was in sensational form for Leipzig last season, proving one of the finest midfielders in the German top flight as his side secured a shock second-place finish in the Bundesliga table.
In 32 appearances in all competitions, the former RB Salzburg standout notched 8 goals and 7 assists, with his all-action performances alerting some of European football’s biggest clubs.
Above all others in the chase for Keita this summer have been Liverpool, with the Merseysiders reportedly desperate to add a top-class midfielder to their ranks ahead of the club’s return to the Champions League.
While Reds boss Jurgen Klopp’s interest in Keita has been made a highly public affair by the press in both England and Germany, a number of other European giants have kept their cards close to their chest regarding possible bids for the dynamic midfielder.
Two of these giants, however, have stepped out of the shadows this afternoon and made their interest known, in the form of Manchester City and Inter Milan.
Pep Guardiola is said to be a huge admirer of the all-action stylings of the in-demand Guinean, and is reportedly readying a substantial offer.
Inter Milan, meanwhile, hope to tempt Leipzig into a sale with a different tactic.
According to reports in Italy, the Nerazzurri intend to strike up an agreement for Keita this summer, but will leave the midfielder on loan at the Red Bull Arena for a year, in an attempt to sweeten the deal.
