As per a report from German outlet Liga-Financial, Premier League giants Liverpool are leading the race to sign Borussia Monchengladbach star Thorgan Hazard.
Hazard’s rise to prominence
Versatile winger/attacking midfielder Hazard has been plying his trade with Monchengladbach for 4 years now.
The 25-year-old younger brother of Chelsea star Eden, was actually on the books of the Blues from 2012 to 2015, but, in the end, failed to make the grade at Stamford Bridge.
However, Hazard has since gone from strength to strength in the years following his Premier League departure.
The gifted attacker’s production has steadily increased every season since his arrival at Borussia-Park, with Hazard’s deft touch, set-piece prowess and eye for goal just a few of the Belgian’s growing repertoire of notable talents.
After notching an impressive 10 goals and 5 assists in the league alone last season, the 19-time capped international has since taken his form to another level altogether to this point in the current campaign, standing as one of the standout performers across all of German football.
Across 17 appearances in all competitions, Hazard has racked up 11 goals and 6 assists.
And the stellar recent form of the Lens youth product has certainly not gone unnoticed amongst European football’s elite.
As per the aforementioned report from Liga-Financial, Liverpool are leading a host of clubs in the race for Hazard’s signature.
The 25-year-old is rumoured to have a release clause set at just 30 million Euro, with the Reds prepared to fork over such a sum to secure one of manager Jurgen Klopp’s key transfer targets.
Liga-Financial even suggest that the board at Anfield could sanction a deal in January.
Manchester United, meanwhile, are also said to be keen admirers of Hazard’s talents.
