Liverpool handed boost as key trio spotted in training ahead of Arsenal clash

Jurgen Klopp

Liverpool ready for Anfield clash with Arsenal

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side are back in action next Saturday evening as they play host to high-flying Arsenal under the lights at Anfield.

The Merseyside outfit suffered their first defeat of the campaign as they came unstuck against West Ham last time out, and will be looking to get back to winning ways to avoid Chelsea opening up a gap at the top of the Premier League table.

The Reds currently sit four points off the lead, but know any further slip-ups could prove costly even at this early juncture, with Thomas Tuchel’s side in imperious form.

Meanwhile, Arsenal could themselves leapfrog Liverpool into the top four with a victory.

The Gunners come into the game on the back of a ten-game unbeaten run, but the only true test (with all due respect to the other clubs) has been a trip to the King Power Stadium to take on Leicester City, which they emerged from as 2-0 victors.

Liverpool will force Mikel Arteta’s side to raise their level even further, and the side put out by Klopp could prove stronger than initially expected.

Injury boost given as absentees mount

It seemed, heading into Tuesday morning, as though Liverpool’s poor injury luck was continuing. Andy Robertson was taken off for Scotland with an injury problem, while Jordan Henderson and Sadio Mane both limped out of international duty with their own respective issues.

At one point, it seemed though as many as nine first-team players could be absent for Saturday.

However, these woes have been somewhat placated by the most recent news coming out of Melwood training ground.

As per the Liverpool echo, both Henderson and Milner were training alone, but there was better news around Sadio Mane, who took part in full training.

There remains no update on Andy Robertson, who was forced off for Scotland with what looked like a hamstring problem on Monday night.

However, it now looks likely that all three should be able to make it to full fitness ahead of Saturday evening’s clash with the Gunners, who have their own injury woes.
