Liverpool win the Champions League
Liverpool would claim their 6th ever Champions League trophy earlier this month.
Jurgen Klopp’s side took on Tottenham in an all-English final.
Liverpool had not lifted the trophy since 2005, while Spurs had never even been in the CL final before facing the Reds.
Mohamed Salah opened the scoring in Madrid from the penalty spot, before Divock Origi killed the game off in the 87th minute.
Xherdan Shaqiri did not feature too much throughout Liverpool’s 2018/19 Champions League campaign.
However, the Swiss international did play the full 90 minutes of the semi-final second-leg vs Barcelona.
Liverpool needed to win the game at least 4-0 to progress to the final, and that is exactly what they did. Shaqiri would provide one assist that evening.
Despite not playing in the final, Shaqiri has been given a touching gift whilst on holiday.
According to the Liverpool Echo, when Shaqiri arrived at his hotel in Greece, he was given a commemorative plaque to honour Liverpool’s CL win.
Shaqiri would post a photo of said plaque on his Instagram story.
Once Shaqiri is done with his holiday, he will join up with the Liverpool squad to begin pre-season, kicking off with a clash versus Tranmere Rovers on the 11th of July.
Liverpool then get their Premier League season underway versus newly-promoted Norwich on August 9th.
