Supporters of Liverpool have tonight torn into midfielder Naby Keita, following the Reds’ FA Cup exit at the hands of Wolves.
Wolves 2-1 Liverpool
Jurgen Klopp’s men travelled to Molineux keen to put their crucial loss at the hands of Manchester City last time out firmly behind them.
The Merseysiders saw their lead atop the Premier League table cut to just 4 points last weekend, after Sergio Aguero and Leroy Sane netted either side of a Roberto Firmino strike at the Etihad.
However, a bounce-back result was not forthcoming for Liverpool this evening.
In the end, a weakened Reds’ XI fell to a surprise 2-1 defeat at the hands of Wolves.
Raul Jimenez capitalized on a James Milner mistake to put the hosts in front shortly before half-time. Liverpool, though pulled one back following the interval, courtesy of Divock Origi’s snap-shot from the edge of the box.
The visitors managed to hold onto the lead for just 4 minutes, though, with Ruben Neves’ tie-deciding screamer from 25 yards having proven the difference between the sides at full-time.
Unsurprisingly, Liverpool’s fans were quick to express their disappointment in the aftermath of the clash, with any hopes of a historic Reds’ treble having come to an end at Molineux.
And, while Klopp’s men were some way short of their best all over the pitch tonight, one individual has since been singled out for heavy criticism.
The player in question is midfielder Naby Keita, who saw the game simply pass him by for lengthy stretches this evening.
‘When Keita finally arrives…’
The Guinean’s ineffective display was at odds with the type of all-action performance that the Liverpool faithful had been promised following Keita’s big-money arrival from RB Leipzig during the summer, with some of the highlights from across Twitter tonight showcased below:
It’ll be great when Naby Keita finally arrives from Leipzig.

I know everyone is afraid to say it because of how excited everyone was for him but Naby Keita has been bang average at best so far this season.

Keita was a disgrace tonight. Absolutely lazy performance

Keita is bang average. No point in sugar coating it.

Very poor game from Keita. So off positionally. Probably massively low on confidence.

Why does Naby keita hold on to the ball for too long? so many opportunities to creat a proper chance..15 games and only had like 2-3 good games..Needs to step up..At least we know Fabinho isn’t anywhere close to playing as a CB

We should have just dumped the £70m we paid for Keita into Guinean infrastructure. All the schools and hospitals etc we could have built but we landed this load of shite at #LFC.

Keita was absolutely awful tonight #LFC

At what point do we admit the club’s got it horribly wrong with Keita? Salif Diao 2.0
