Leicester v Liverpool in the Carabao Cup

Liverpool fans heap praise on Andy Robertson following first-half showing versus Leicester

Supporters of Liverpool have taken to social media in their droves this evening to sing the praises of full-back Andrew Robertson following his performance during the first-half of his side’s clash with Leicester City.

The two sides went head-to-head in a League Cup matchup at the King Power Stadium tonight, with a place in the fourth round up for grabs.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was handed his starting debut for the Reds, joining Philippe Coutinho and Dominic Solanke in a front-three for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Liverpool dominated much of the opening 45 minutes, with their intricate football having proven difficult for Craig Shakespeare’s Foxes to deal with.

Stellar showing

One particularly bright spark for the visitors came down their left flank, in the form of marauding full-back Andy Robertson.

The Scottish talent arrived at Anfield this summer from Hull City, with supporters of the Tigers having long raved about his abilities.

He has impressed when given the opportunity with Liverpool so far this season, but has thus far failed to fully establish himself ahead of Alberto Moreno in the Merseyside club’s pecking order.

However, his performance thus far tonight will have done him no harm in his quest for a permanent starting spot, with the 23-year-old’s phenomenal crossing abilities having been on full display for much of the opening 45 minutes.

Liverpool’s fans have certainly been impressed, and have taken to Twtitter in numbers to make their appreciation known:
