Liverpool dealt huge injury blow ahead of vital run of fixtures

Liverpool have been dealt a major injury blow ahead of an important run of fixtures as midfielder Adam Lallana left the field limping against Crystal Palace.

The 29-year-old has been battling with a constant spell of injuries this season, having made just 13 appearances in all competitions.

Lallana entered the field of play at Selhurst Park this afternoon replacing Georginio Wijnaldum after 65 minutes only to be subbed off just five minutes later after suffering an injury.

The player has this season been seriously struggling with a hamstring injury missing 27 games in all competitions.

In Liverpool 2-1 win over Crystal Palace this afternoon, the England international been dealt a fresh injury concern heading into a vital run of fixtures.

Prior to today’s game, Lallana admitted:

“It’s been a difficult challenge for me this year and I’ve had a long layoff but I’m back at the business end of the season.

“I’ve got to look at the positives – we’ve got a World Cup coming up, some really important games in the league and Champions League.

“If you’re going to be back fit for one part of the season it’s the back end, the business part.

“Injuries happen but I feel physically and mentally as fresh as anyone. I’m raring to go.”
