Liverpool confirm Jordan Henderson’s surgery a success, reports suggest a 6-8 week layoff

Hope for return

Liverpool have confirmed the news this morning that their captain Jordan Henderson has successfully undergone surgery on an abductor injury he picked up in their defeat to Everton last weekend.

Dominic King reports that the timeline for recovery is 6-8 weeks and that the player should be back this season and available for the Euros.

Mixed news this week

It’s been a mixture of good and bad news for Jurgen Klopp this week.

News broke yesterday of the tragic untimely passing of their goalkeeper Alisson’s father, Jose Becker who drowned in Brazil. The player has taken to social media to thank everyone for their support at this time.

In more positive news the club welcomed Diogo Jota back to first-team training following a spell out with a knee injury, which did not require surgery. He had been in fine form prior to picking up a knock against FC Midtjylland on December 9th.

They also welcomed their talismanic Dutch international Virgil Van Dijk back to their AXA Training ground, who was pictured training with a football for the first time since his knee injury sustained back in October.

Liverpool will be hoping to get their season back on track this week as they face a trip to Sheffield United on Sunday and then host Chelsea on Thursday night in what may turn out to be a vital clash in the race for the top 4.
