Liverpool and Chelsea express interest in German striker Max Kruse

According to a report from German outlet Bild this evening, Premier League duo Chelsea and Liverpool are set to do battle over the signature of Werder Bremen striker Max Kruse.

Prolific

Despite making just 24 appearances for Bremen last season, Kruse managed to rack up an extremely impressive 15 goals and 7 assists across all competitions.

The 29-year-old has lined out for five Bundesliga sides since 2010, managing to maintain a ratio of at least 1 goal or assist every two games.

He has also notched 4 goals in 14 appearances for the German national side.

Suitors

As per the aforementioned report from Bild, several Premier League outfits took notice of Kruse’s impressive showings during the 2016/17 campaign, with Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool all said to have expressed an interest in the attacker at some stage this summer.

The Gunners have reportedly pulled out of proceedings following their signing of Alexandre Lacazette, leaving just Chelsea and Liverpool in the race for the experienced German.

Both clubs see Kruse as a solid backup option to their first-choice strikers, with Bremen having informed all interested parties that their star man’s price-tag is set at £16 million.
