Liverpool boss Klopp provides concerning Thiago injury update

The Spaniard looks set for a spell on the sidelines

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has, on Saturday evening, provided an update on the wellbeing of Thiago Alcantara.

For those not aware, midfielder Thiago was forced into a premature departure from proceedings earlier today.

As Liverpool kicked their Premier League campaign into gear in a meeting with newcomers Fulham, ex-Barcelona and Bayern Munich standout Thiago, as expected, was utilised from the off.

Early in the 2nd-half of action, though, the 31-year-old pulled up with a muscular issue, culminating in his exit with 51 minutes on the clock.

Speaking to the media on the back of the action coming to a close at Craven Cottage, it therefore came as little surprise when the subject of his midfield star’s fitness was put to Jurgen Klopp.

And the German’s ensuing update will have provided those of a Reds persuasion with little comfort.

This comes with Thiago looking set for an imminent spell out of action, albeit with the extent of his hamstring injury, at present, remaining unclear.

Thiago’s latest issue, of course, proved just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to Liverpool’s woes on Saturday.

In addition, Klopp’s troops were forced to face up to an opening day pair of points dropped, after strikes on the part of Darwin Nunez and Mohamed Salah were cancelled out by means of a double from Aleksandar Mitrovic.
