Klopp on not signing Sadio Mane
In a recent interview, Jurgen Klopp has revealed how he turned down the chance to sign Sadio Mane.
Before becoming Liverpool manager in October of 2015, Jurgen Klopp was in charge of German outfit, Borussia Dortmund.
Prior to joining Southampton in 2014, Mane was playing his football with Red Bull Salzburg.
Mane made 87 appearances for Salzburg, scoring 45 and assisting 32.
The winger then decided to leave Salzburg in 2014 and Klopp met with Mane to determine if he wanted him at Dortmund.
Klopp opted against signing Mane and has since revealed it was one of his biggest mistakes as a manager:
“I have made a few mistakes in my life and one of the biggest mistakes ever was not taking Sadio [Mane] when I was at Dortmund.
“We were together in an office and I spoke to him. Afterwards I wasn’t sure. It was my fault”.

Mane impresses under Klopp
Luckily for Liverpool, Klopp would not make the same mistake a second time.
Mane would play 75, score 25 and assist 14 for Southampton.
This would once again attract the attention of Jurgen Klopp who then signed Mane in 2016 for £37m.
Mane has since gone on to make 100 appearances for Liverpool across all competitions.
In those 100 games, Mane has scored 42 and assisted 20.
The Senegalese international has also enjoyed a solid start to the 2018/19 campaign, scoring eight and assisting one in 20 league games.
