Jurgen Klopphas claimed he knew Mo Salah would be perfect for the club from the minute he met the player, and that he thinks Salah is someone who fits in well with the culture of the city and the ethos at the club he is trying to create.
He explained that he met Salah before he signed him, and had a good feeling from the initial contact with the player.
“I always meet the player before we sign,” Klopp told The Guardian.
“That’s when I decide because I have a good feeling for people.
“It was a fantastic talk. He’s open, smiling all the time. He has crazy curls but he’s a really nice boy.
“He also looked much more mature than it says on his passport. Twenty-four? I was [like]: ‘Wow, really?’
“We talked for three hours about everything from his family to my family and at the end we had a deal to work together.
“I like to remind players from time to time of that agreement. It’s working really well with Mo.”
Salah is well on his way to breaking just about every goalscoring record the Premier League has at the minute, and is of course set to break the goals scored in a single season record after drawing level and then missing a chance against Stoke that would have made history.
The player has shown time and time again that he can put the ball into the back of the net and produce on the biggest of occasions – and there is yet another one with the Champions League this week, where he will be looking to beat his former club and send Liverpool to the final.
