Liverpool & Arsenal tie highly-regarded youngsters down to fresh terms

The respective boards at Anfield and the Emirates are hard at work, planning for the future

Two of the Premier League’s giants have, on Friday, announced new contracts for up-and-coming members of their respective academies.

First up come Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal.

As confirmed by the player himself courtesy of a post across social media this afternoon, Brooke Norton-Cuffy is primed to stay put in north London for the foreseeable future.

For those not aware, Norton-Cuffy has long represented a potential star in the making at Arsenal.

The 18-year-old spent the 2nd-half of last season on loan in League One, en route to 17 appearances for Lincoln City.

Then, last month, Norton-Cuffy clinched glory on the international stage, featuring in the tournament finale as England’s U19s went all the way at the European Championships.

And following the Gunners in tying down a key prospect for the future, as alluded to above, have been Liverpool.

Courtesy of their own Twitter post, the Reds have announced that prolific attacker Oakley Cannonier has put pen to paper on a ‘long-term’ deal on Merseyside.

Cannonier’s fresh terms come as a reward for what proved a scintillating individual campaign in 2021/22.

All told, the former Leeds talent racked up an eye-watering 41 goals across all competitions, including 28 strikes in the U18 Premier League North.
