Well, that’s new
The winner for the most random news story from Wednesday comes in the form of a piece of Francesco Totti memorabilia being launched into space.
The Italian legend retired at the end of last season, much to the disappointment of the entire footballing world with Totti seen as a dying breed of player.
Totti, a one man club player, remained at Roma for his entire career and became one of the staple players on everyone’s mind for the past couple of decades.
Now, having played against Genoa in his last game at the back end of the season, the match worn shirt from that game has been launched into orbit.
The iconic number 10 shirt was successfully launched into space on Tuesday to complete one of the most bizarre news stories of recent weeks.
Totti scored 307 goals during his time at the club which spanned over an incredible 25-year career and will forever be remembered for his loyalty to Roma.
Not only that, should some other life form discover the shirt one day, they will remember the name of legendary football player Francesco Totti.
Legacy will go on
Now, even after being remembered in a unique way, Totti’s legacy will continue at AS Roma.
It was announced after his retirement that the player would look to stay on at the club in another role which was later revealed to be a secondary sporting director.
The Italian will work under legendary sporting director ‘Monchi’ who made his name at Sevilla.
That will give the former forward an extremely important role at the club which he knows so much about, as well someone extremely talented to work under.
Safe to say, all Roma fans and everyone at the club will be very happy to see him remain at the club!
