Lionel Messi matches Cristiano Ronaldo record with latest PSG strike

Lionel Messi has matched a record currently held by Manchester United’s Cristiano Ronaldo on Tuesday evening.

PSG dominating Brugge

PSG are currently locked in Champions League action with Belgian outfit Club Brugge.

The Parisian outfit headed into the game knowing that a draw would be enough to secure passage into the Champions League knockout rounds.

However, with just 45 minutes gone at the time of writing, Mauricio Pochettino and co. are on course to go one better.

Kylian Mbappe would open the scoring on the day after just two minutes, before adding his second of the day five minutes later.


Then, shortly before the break, Lionel Messi got in on the goal-scoring action, netting a trademark curling effort on his left foot from the edge of the box:

After netting vs Brugge in the French capital, it has been revealed that Messi has matched a record currently held by Manchester United star, Cristiano Ronaldo.

As per Squawka, Messi has now scored against 38 different clubs in the Champions League.

That is the same number as Ronaldo, who had previously held the record for most teams scored against in the CL.
