After a major disappointment losing 1-0 away at FC Basel in the Champions League on Wednesday night Liverpool return to domestic action on Saturday with a home match against West Brom at Anfield.
Liverpool, wounded from their defeat and poor performance in Switzerland, will be desperate to get back to winning sways against the Baggies, however Alan Irvine’s team having finally hit a bit of form this season.
After starting the campaign sluggishly, West Brom have won their last three games on the bounce away at Tottenham, at home to Hull (in the League Cup) and at home to Burnley.
Liverpool’s biggest pre-match talking point centres on the fitness of Daniel Sturridge. The England international has been missing in action since getting injury on England duty, and his absence has been sorely missed by the Reds.
Mario Balotelli (one goal) is struggling in front of goal, and if Sturridge is fit he may replace the Italian in the starting XI. More likely, however, is that Balotelli will begin up front while Sturridge returns on the bench.
Elsewehere, Adam Lallana may return to the starting XI to replace Lazar Markovic.
As for West Brom, their star man in young English forward Saido Berahino, who has scored four goals in six matches already this campaign.
