Everton update relating to Nicolas Pepe
Lille winger Nicolas Pepe is reportedly a ‘prime target’ for Everton, with the Ivorian looking set for a big-money move this summer.
It was reported on Wednesday that Everton are interested in Pepe.
The Telegraph’s Jason Burt suggested that Pepe was one of Everton’s summer targets.
Pepe has also previously been linked with a move to Merseyside rivals Liverpool, but it was reported this week that the Reds have no interest in the Ivorian.
Now, a new report from the Liverpool Echo has suggested that Pepe is a ‘prime target’ for Everton.
Pepe ‘prime target’ for Toffees
According to their update, ‘Everton want Lille winger Nicolas Pepe but fear they may be priced out of a move.’
It was reported by the Telegraph that Lille’s asking price for Pepe stands at a whopping £59 million.
The Liverpool Echo’s report continues by explaining that Pepe is a ‘prime target’ in Everton’s pursuit of a left-footed winger.
However, it’s not all good news for Everton fans.
That’s because according to their report, ‘the number of clubs chasing Pepe’s signature could create a bidding war which the Blues worry may push them out of the running and needing to look at alternative targets’.
Finally, their report claims that Marco Silva feels Pepe is the right man for Everton’s right-wing next season.
As a result, ‘the club are determined to test the French club’s resolve over the exciting attacker who has been valued at around £60m.’
With so many big clubs seemingly set to try for Pepe, Everton still remain outsiders for his signature.
Though, if the Toffees could pull off a deal, it would be an incredible statement of intent ahead of next season.
