Happy to battle
Manchester City forward Leroy Sane has admitted that he is happy with competition for his spot in the team with new signing Riyad Mahrez.
The German was voted as the young Premier League player of the season in the last campaign but he saw Leicester City man Mahrez join the club this summer.
With both players competing with each other for a wide spot in the team, there is always going to be a battle.
However, Leroy Sane will embrace the competition and is actually happy because he knows it will push him on.
“I’m totally happy for it — I like competition,” he explained, as quoted by the Daily Mirror.
“He’s a really good person. When I first met him here, he’s really nice, open, and a really class player.
“I think everyone’s seen it before in Leicester that’s why I’m really happy that he’s here.”
Repeating the success of last season
The big question for City this season is whether they can repeat their record-breaking season.
Though, it is also the Champions League in which they want to succeed.
Now, Sane has explained why they are getting closer to competing for European honours.
“Yes – I think, step by step, we’re getting closer,” he continued.
“It’s still hard that we couldn’t achieve more than we did last season.
“Like always, this will be our target — to be better in this competition.
“It’s really hard because you see the other teams and everyone is trying to get better to win the season and stop us too and the way we play, our tactics.
“We have to work hard to get more perfect in some situations.”
