Leicester vs West Ham betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Leicester vs West Ham prediction: Leicester 2-1 West Ham

Can Leicester City rediscover their form?

Just a month or so a go, a top four finish looked a mere formality for the Foxes.

Now, given their recent slump in form, some are beginning to worry.

West Ham have worries of their own though.

While Leicester are chasing the Champions League, the Hammers are just trying to avoid the Championship.

Who will claim a much needed win at the King Power Stadium?

Leicester City vs West Ham United: Who will win?

Leicester, despite poor recent results, are odds on favourites to win this match at 3/5.

West Ham meanwhile are 9/2 to win at the King Power, just as they did in May 2018, which was also under David Moyes.

A draw, which would certainly be a better result for the away side, is 3/1.

Over 2.5 goals is 8/13.

Both teams to score is 4/6.

Leicester to win and over 2.5 goals is 11/10.

Leicester to win and both teams to score is 15/8.

Jamie Vardy is the Premier League’s top scorer this season. He is 23/10 to open the scoring and odds on at 4/6 to add to his tally.

Kelechi Ịheanachọ will also be a threat. The Nigerian is 3/1 to score first and evens to net anytime.

Sébastien Haller is West Ham’s top scorer. He is 15/2 to break the deadlock and 11/4 to score anytime.

Michail Antonio could also start. He is 10/1 to score first and 7/2 to net anytime.

Both James Maddison and Vardy to score is 5/1.

Both Dennis Praet and Ayoze Pérez to score is 20/1.

Both Mark Noble and Haller to score is 25/1.

Both Angelo Ogbonna and Aaron Cresswell to score is 175/1.

Another setback for Leicester City.

On Sunday afternoon they travelled to Turf Moor and had a lead at half time thanks to Harvey Barnes’ solo goal.

However, two goals in the second period from Burnley saw them snatch all three points.

That followed a 2-1 home defeat to Southampton meaning Brendan Rodgers’ side have now only won two of their last seven in the league.

Still, some context must be given.

The Foxes remain third and are a whopping 11 points clear of fifth placed Manchester United.

Also, they have already won seven away Premier League matches.

Only in 1965/66 and the title winning year of 2015/16 have they won more in the top-flight.

One of those seven came just 25 days ago at the London Stadium; Kelechi Ịheanachọ and Demarai Gray the scorers.

The remaining three games they have this month could go a long way to defining their season.

On Saturday they travel to Brentford in the FA Cup fourth round.

Then, on Tuesday, Villa Park is the destination for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg with the tie poised at 1-1.

Before those cup commitments, they need to get back to winning ways in the Premier League.

As for the Hammers, they are in desperate need of points.

When Leicester came to the London Stadium, made nine changes and still won, that signalled the end for Manuel Pellegrini.

David Moyes has not quite had the impact he would’ve been dreaming of so far on his return to East London.

On Saturday, they could only draw 1-1 with Everton at home.

Issa Diop headed them in front in the 40th minute but the Toffees equalised just four minutes later.

It was a game of few chances between two clubs low on confidence.

So, they’ve taken four points from three games under Moyes, beating Bournemouth 4-0 but losing at Sheffield United.

This leaves them 16th, just one point above the relegation zone.

This is a side who have only won three of their last 17 league matches but two of those were away from home, at Chelsea and Southampton.

They host West Bromwich Albion in the FA Cup at the weekend before welcoming runaway league-leaders Liverpool in their rearranged game next midweek.

It’s tough times in Stratford and any point they can get is like gold-dust.

Can they get a draw in this one or maybe even a win?

Following Sunday’s loss at Burnley, Brendan Rodgers is likely to make some changes to his XI.

Kasper Schmeichel will continue in goal.

No goalkeeper has kept more clean sheets in the Premier League this season than the Dane’s eight.

In defence, Ricardo Pereira, Çağlar Söyüncü and Jonny Evans will all keep their places.

There will be a change at left-back though.

Ben Chilwell was left out of the 18 at Turf Moor but Rodgers confirmed he will return at Christian Fuchs’ expense.

In midfield, key man Wilfred Ndidi is still out with a knee injury.

It is no coincidence that his absence has coincided with Leicester’s drop in form.

At the weekend, Nampalys Mendy was tasked with deputising in the anchor role but, despite mysteriously not being in the squad on Sunday, Hamza Choudhury will come in here.

Further forward, Youri Tielemans could return at the expense of his fellow Belgian Dennis Praet.

James Maddison has been directly involved in 12 goals this season but only two of those have come in his last nine appearances in all competitions.

Out-wide, Harvey Barnes will keep his place after ending a run of 32 shots without scoring in the Premier League at the weekend.

On the other side, Ayoze Pérez will also keep his place; Marc Albrighton, Demarai Gray and Kelechi Ịheanachọ are the alternatives.

Up front, Jamie Vardy has 17 goals to his name this season but has not netted since 21 December.

He does have three career goals against West Ham so can he fire Leicester to a win here?

West Ham United team news vs Leicester City

LIVERPOOL, ENGLAND – OCTOBER 19: Declan Rice of West Ham United shows appreciation to fans after the Premier League match between Everton FC and West Ham United at Goodison Park on October 19, 2019 in Liverpool, United Kingdom. (Photo by Ian MacNicol/Getty Images)

As for West Ham United, David Moyes’ squad is not fully fit and that could cause problems given that this is a midweek fixture.

In goal, they have now used four different goalkeepers in the league this season.

Łukasz Fabiański suffered a reoccurrence of his thigh injury and David Martin and Roberto have been deemed not up to it.

So, Darren Randolph has rejoined the club from Middlesbrough and will keep his place in goal.

In defence, Ryan Fredericks is injured so Pablo Zabaleta will keep his place at right-back.

On the other side, Aaron Cresswell will keep his place over Arthur Masuaku.

Likewise in the centre, Angelo Ogbonna and Issa Diop is the preferred partnership with Fabián Balbuena and Gonçalo Cardoso on the bench.

In midfield, Declan Rice will continue to anchor alongside Mark Noble.

Manuel Lanzini, Robert Snodgrass and Pablo Fornals are all expected to keep their places from Saturday.

This is partly due to the fact Carlos Sánchez, Jack Wilshere, Felipe Anderson, Andriy Yarmolenko and Michail Antonio are all injured.

Up top, Sébastien Haller will keep his place; Albian Ajeti is the other options after escaping a red card on Saturday.

Will this depleted West Ham side win away?
