Leicester vs Newcastle betting tips: Premier League match preview & predictions

Leicester vs Newcastle prediction: Leicester 2-1 Newcastle

With four wins on the spin, Leicester are looking like the ‘best of the rest’ in the Premier League.

Newcastle have only won twice on the road this season, scoring just 12 goals in their 16 away games.

Newcastle will be looking to bounce back from back-to-back defeats.

Leicester are 8/11 favourites while Newcastle are 9/2 to win. The draw is priced at 14/5.

Leicester have only managed one shut out in their last 10 home matches across all competitions. Bet on both teams to score at 10/11.

Jamie Vardy has scored seven goals in his last six matches for Leicester and has been cleared to play on Friday night following an injury scare.

Vardy is 15/4 to open the scoring and 6/5 to score anytime.

Leicester vs Newcastle Premier League match preview

Friday night football returns to the Premier League this week as Leicester host Newcastle United at the King Power Stadium.

Newcastle suffered a 1-0 defeat at home to Crystal Palace last weekend, conceding a late penalty scored by Luka Milivojevic.

The defeat saw Newcastle drop down to 15th in the table. Rafa Benitez’s side are seven points above the relegation zone with five matches remaining. It is worth noting, however, that they have played more matches than the three teams directly below them.

Leicester moved up to 7th with a 4-1 over already-relegated Huddersfield on Saturday. Youri Tielemans opened the scoring for Brendan Rodgers’ side. Jamie Vardy (2) and James Maddison were also on the scoresheet.

The Foxes are tied on 47 points with Wolves, but have played a game more than them.

Leicester and Newcastle have met 23 times in Premier League history, with Newcastle winning 10 and losing 8.

Leicester won the reverse fixture 2-0 at St. James’ Park in September. Jamie Vardy scored from the spot before Harry Maguire doubled the Foxes’ lead in the second half.

Leicester team news vs Newcastle

Brendan Rodgers has confirmed that Jamie Vardy is “absolutely fine” to face Newcastle. Vardy was taken off against Huddersfield after feeling his groin but the move was more precautionary.

Harry Maguire is available again and should start in place of Caglar Soyuncu. The England defender missed Leicester’s last match following the birth of his daughter.

Jonny Evans comes back into contention following a hip injury which ruled him out against the Terriers.

Daniel Amartey is closing in on a return from an ankle injury and could feature before the end of the season.

Marc Albrighton has returned to training following a thigh injury but is still short of match fitness.

Newcastle team news vs Leicester

Florian Lejeune is set to miss out with a knee injury picked up against Palace.

Salomon Rondon is set to lead the line with Ayoze Perez and Miguel Almiron supporting him.

Sean Longstaff remains sidelined until the end of the season with a knee injury.
