Leicester City are preparing to offer Harry Maguire a new contract in a bid to fend off interest from Manchester United, according to the Daily Mirror.
The 25-year-old was one of the star performers at the 2018 World Cup helping England to reach the semi-finals.
The England international also enjoyed a successful first season at the King Power last campaign which has generated much interest from other Premier League clubs.
Manchester United’s Maguire move
The Foxes are set to offer Maguire a new contract in the coming weeks with Manchester United and other clubs expected to announce their interest.
The former Premier League champions could hand the defender a deal worth £100k-per-week with the club’s owners desperate to keep their World Cup star.
Maguire proved himself to be one of the Three Lions’ best performers at the World Cup scoring in their 2-0 win over Sweden in the quarter-finals.
Gareth Southgate’s side will finish their campaign on Saturday against Belgium with a bronze medal up for grabs.
Following their league-winning triumph back in 2016, Leicester have done an excellent job at keeping hold of their best players including Jamie Vardy, Riyad Mahrez (until this summer) and Kasper Schmeichel.
Maguire-Vardy World Cup story
One of the funniest stories to come out of the 2018 FIFA World Cup is Jamie Vardy’s question to his fellow club and country teammate Harry Maguire during an official press conference.
The Daily Mail report:
Jamie Vardy sat in on club and country teammate Harry Maguire’s press-conference and asked the final question, saying: ‘It’s Jamie Vardy from the Vardy Express, how big is the diameter of your head?’
