What’s next for Youri Tielemans?
Belgian news outlet DH have an update on Youri Tielemans on Monday.
Youri Tielemans spent the second half of last season on loan at Leicester City.
Tielemans impressed at the King Power Stadium. In 13 Premier League appearances, the midfielder directly contributed to 7 goals.
After his loan deal with the Foxes expired, Tielemans is now an AS Monaco player once again.
However, DH confidently announce that Tielemans has no intention of staying with Monaco next season. Readers are told:
One thing is for sure: Youri Tielemans is not expected to play in Ligue 1 again next season.
Leicester vs Man United
So where could Tielemans go this summer?
The 22-year-old Belgian international is under contract at Monaco until 2022.
DH note that while Man City and Tottenham have previously been linked to the Belgian, it’s unlikely that either of these clubs will land Tielemans.
Instead, Leicester are believed to be battling with Man United for the player.
Leicester have taken the upper hand in the chase, by offering Monaco 40 million euros for Tielemans.
DH claim that “this offer could satisfy the Monegasque leaders.”
As for Man United’s interest in Tielemans, the Belgian is being viewed as a possible Paul Pogba replacement.
DH also announce that “the Red Devils have also tabled a 40 million euros offer”.
But have Man United actually made a bid for Tielemans?
That’s been contested by the Telegraph’s James Ducker.
He’s suggested that Man United are instead focused on signing Newcastle United’s Sean Longstaff.
Tielemans is one of multiple players to have been offered to United but United aren’t pursuing a deal for him as things stand. Newcastle have yet to receive an approach for Sean Longstaff. Wan-Bissaka talks continuing #mufc https://t.co/IZ0LIuNfQO
