Leicester linked with Jannik Vestergaard
Leicester City have recently been linked with a move for Southampton defender Jannik Vestergaard.
The no-nonsense central defender joined the Saints from German outfit Borussia Monchengladbach in July of 2018, for a fee believed to be around £22.5m.
Vestergaard has since gone on to rack up 39 appearances for Southampton.
But recently, the 27-year-old has seen his game time seriously limited.
In fact, the defender has featured in just one of Southampton’s last 12 Premier League outings.
Now, with just over a week of the winter window left, the Dane is being linked with a move away from St Mary’s.
As per the Sun, Leicester are eyeing a £15m move for the Saints defender, as Brendan Rodgers wants an extra centre-back to aid his side’s push for a Champions League place.
The Foxes are currently 3rd in the Premier League table, and boast the third-best defence in the English top-flight this term.
Jonny Evans and Caglar Soyuncu have formed a formidable partnership at the heart of Leicester’s backline this term.
But outside of that pair, Leicester don’t have the best cover.
Wes Morgan is now 36 years of age, and in the twilight years of his career. As for Filip Benkovic, the aforementioned report from the Sun claims that Rodgers would like to send the Croatian out on loan.
Leicester optimistic about Vardy injury
In other Leicester-related news, Sky Sports News are claiming that the Foxes are optimistic Jamie Vardy will not be injured for a lengthy period of time.
The Leicester hitman had to be withdrawn just before the interval vs West Ham on Wednesday.

But after Leicester’s medical team assessed Vardy on Thursday, it is thought that the injury will not keep him on the sidelines for too long, as per Sky.
