Leicester reportedly close to signing Dennis Praet & claims Man United didn’t buy the Foxes’ best defender

Leicester close to signing Dennis Praet from Sampdoria

After selling Harry Maguire to Man United in a world record 80 million pound deal for a defender, Leicester City have money to spend in the final days of the transfer window.

According to Italian transfer guru Gianluca Di Marzio. Leicester are in advanced talks to sign Dennis Praet from Sampdoria.

Praet is a 25-year-old Belgian international who plays in midfield.

Last season, Praet scored two goals and had three assists in 34 Serie A games.

It’s believed that Leicester could sign Praet for 20 million pounds.

Could Leicester include Rachid Ghezzal in the Praet deal?

That possibility is floated by the Mirror, who report:

Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers is willing to offer Rachid Ghezzal in the deal as the winger, signed from Monaco for £12m a year ago, struggled to make an impact in 23 appearances last season.

It’s unclear whether Sampdoria have any interest in including Ghezzal in any deal for Praet.

Did Man United sign Leicester’s best defender?

On BBC 5 Live radio on Tuesday night, the case was made that Man United made an error in signing Harry Maguire.

According to local journalist Ian Stringer, Maguire wasn’t even as good as former Man United defender Jonny Evans last season.
