Leicester City’s Patson Daka joins Edinson Cavani in exclusive club with goals against Spartak Moscow

Leicester City pull off brilliant comeback

Brendan Rodgers’ Leicester City side came from two goals down to win 4-3 away at Spartak Moscow, for their first 3-point haul in the Europa League this season.

The Foxes headed to Russia having picked up just one point from their opening two games, and were staring down the barrel when Jordan Larsson, son of famed striker Henrikh, made it 2-0 in the 44th minute.

However, a goal from Patson Daka just a minute later handed Leicester a precious lifeline, before the Foxes’ summer signing netted twice more in the ten minutes after half time to complete his hat-trick, and put Leicester in the driving seat for the tie.

The former RB Salzburg striker later added one more, before Spartak pulled one back to provide the visitors with a hairy final ten minutes, but the English club held on to work their way back into the reckoning for qualification.

Daka joins exclusive club

The star on the night, without doubt, was Patson Daka. Leicester signed the Zambian for a reported 27 million euro this summer from RB Salzburg, and he began repaying that fee in-kind today, with a display of his ruthless finishing.

In grabbing four goals, Daka joined an exclusive club that includes Radamel Falcao and Edinson Cavani. Since the competition changed from the UEFA Cup to the Europa League, only five players have scored 4 or more goals in a game, while only Daka and Real Sociedad’s Willian Jose have managed the feat away from home.

Meanwhile, the striker became the first Zambian to score a hat-trick in a UEFA club competition proper (Not including qualifiers), with his four goals for the Foxes:

It seems as though Leicester City may have chosen well when it comes to their Jamie Vardy replacement.
