Official: Leicester City confirm Rachid Ghezzal deal

Premier League outfit Leicester City have this evening confirmed that they have clinched a deal with Monaco over the signing of Rachid Ghezzal.

Talented wide-man

Ghezzal, a 26-year-old Algerian winger, only made the move to Monaco last summer, following 13 years with the principality outfit’s Ligue 1 rivals Lyon.

The African attacker subsequently went on to appear 26 times in the league last season, though just 7 of these came as starts, with Ghezzal’s erratic form having seen Leonardo Jardim generally opt for the likes of Keita Balde Diao and the now-sold Thomas Lemar instead.

All told, a down year for the 13-time capped international saw him rack up just 2 goals and 4 assists across all competitions.

As such, rumours had been rife in the media for some time now that Monaco were ready to part ways with Ghezzal this summer, with Premier League outfit Leicester City having emerged as the leading contenders for his signature over the last couple of weeks.

Done deal

And, as per an announcement across the club’s social media channels and official website this evening, the Foxes have clinched a deal with Monaco for Ghezzal’s services, with the Algerian set to put pen to paper on a 4-year contract at the King Power Stadium, pending Premier League approval of the transfer:
