Leeds confirm Elland Road acquisition
On Wednesday evening, Leeds United made a significant announcement.
A parent company of the club has repurchased Elland Road, the club’s ground since 1919.
Leeds had been forced to sell Elland Road in 2004 during a period of financial instability.
New Chairman Andrea Radrizzani said: “Today is an important day in our history and a proud day for me and my team.”
“Very high on their list of priorities”
Radrizzani continued: “When I met with both management and supporters during my first few months at the club, the purchase of Elland Road was very high on their list of priorities and I’m delighted to be able to announce that we have completed that process today.”
Ultimately, whatever signings Leeds make this summer, under new coach Thomas Christiansen, none are likely to be as significant as this one.
Leeds also confirmed that “Work to improve and update Elland Road has already begun and will be completed by the start of the season.”
As you might well imagine, Leeds fans are absolutely delighted with this news and are feeling hugely positive going into the new season.
This is also a feather in the cap for Chairman Andrea Radrizzani after a turbulent spell under the control of Massimo Cellino.

Buy-back clause on Elland Road was currently at around £17m. All in all, with costs etc, Radrizzani is in for about £20m with this deal.
