Leeds confirm pair of arrivals as Jack Harrison returns from Man City

Leeds United have this evening confirmed a pair of signings, as the Whites gear up for a return to the Premier League.

Leeds promoted

Following a 16-year absence, Leeds’ long awaited return to the top-flight of English football was finally confirmed late last month.

A stellar campaign on the part of Marcelo Bielsa’s men eventually saw them run away with the Championship title, finishing up 10 points clear of runners-up West Brom and, most importantly, booking their spot in the Premier League for the 2020/21 campaign.

Harrison returns/Gelhardt arrives

As such, while celebrations amongst all associated with the club since no doubt proved equally lengthy and wild, now that the dust has finally settled, Leeds’ attentions have quickly switched to building a squad capable of holding its own back at the top of the English game.

Marcelo Bielsa will of course be keen to add to the unquestionable talent already at his disposal, to avoid suffering a similar fate to previous Championship holders Norwich City, who were doomed to a swift return to the 2nd-tier.

A whole host of players have already been tipped as potential arrivals at Elland Road this summer, with Bielsa seemingly particularly keen on adding fellow Argentines to his squad.

The likes of Emiliano Martinez, Sergio Romero, Juan Foyth, Thiago Almada and Nicolas Gonzalez have all been named as targets for the Peacocks over recent weeks.

As outlined above, though, while the rest remains, for the most part, speculation, confirmation of a pair of arrivals at Leeds have this evening been forthcoming.

First up, Jack Harrison, who proved an integral member of Marcelo Bielsa’s side once again this past season, has extended his loan from Manchester City.

Leeds’ announcement, significantly, adds that the 23-year-old, who racked up 6 goals and 8 assists across 2019/20, has returned ‘with a view to a permanent move’:

Next up, though, is an entirely fresh face at Elland Road.

The Whites’ 2nd addition of the day comes in the form of youngster Joe Gelhardt.

The 18-year-old, capped for England at youth level, impressed as part of Wigan’s first-team setup this past season, on his way to 18 Championship appearances.

Following the Latics’ relegation to League One, though, Gelhardt has opted to move on, putting pen-to-paper on a 4-year deal with Leeds:
