Caicedo’s Lazio stint
Felipe Caicedo has been on Lazio’s books since 2017.
The 31-year-old joined the Serie A outfit in August of 2017 from Espanyol, and has gone on to rack up 100 appearances across all competitions for the Italians, netting 23 and assisting 14 in those ties.
And whilst that record isn’t overly impressive for a centre-forward, Caicedo has been in fine form this campaign.
In 21 Serie A outings this term, the former Manchester City man has scored eight and assisted four, as Lazio look to put an end to Juventus’ dominance over the Italian top-flight.
Lazio are currently sat top of the table, two points above Juve, who have a game in hand.
West Ham eyeing Felipe
The Ecuador international is currently contracted to Lazio until the summer of 2022.
But a Premier League outfit appear to be showing an interest in the centre-forward.
As per the Daily Mail, citing Italian outlet Calciomercato, West Ham have made an approach for Caicedo, ahead of a summer move.
But the report from the Mail claims that Lazio have rejected West Ham’s advances, and have no intentions of selling Caicedo.
Given summer signing Sebastien Haller has been somewhat goal-shy of late, netting just once in his last seven league ties, it shouldn’t be too much of a surprise to see the Hammers reportedly eyeing another centre-forward.
Haller did score a crucial goal this weekend, though. Relegation-battling West Ham earned a much-needed 3-1 victory over Southampton on Saturday, with the Frenchman cancelling out the Saints’ equaliser 40 minutes in.
