Laurent Koscielny refuses to go on Arsenal’s tour

A shocking revelation from Arsenal on Thursday.

The Gunners have confirmed that Laurent Koscielny is refusing to go on tour with the rest of Unai Emery’s squad.

In a remarkable statement posted on the Arsenal website, fans have been told the following:

Laurent Koscielny has refused to travel to the US for our pre-season tour.

We are very disappointed by Laurent’s actions, which are against our clear instructions.

We hope to resolve this matter and will not be providing any further comment at this time.

Koscielny is Arsenal’s club captain.

What type of an example is he setting for the rest of the Arsenal squad?

Is Koscielny trying to force an exit from Arsenal?

That would be the obvious conclusion to reach.

At the start of the month, L’Equipe reported that Koscielny is keen on leaving Arsenal this summer.

The French paper have linked Koscielny, 33, with a switch to Ligue 1 club Bordeaux.

Bordeaux are keen on the Gunners centre-half, as they recently sold Jules Kounde to Sevilla in a reported 25 million euro deal.

L’Equipe say that the priority of Les Girondins is to replace Kounde with Koscielny.

Koscielny’s price tag

L’Equipe indicated that Koscielny is so revved up to join Bordeaux, that he’s planning to ask Arsenal to release him from his current contract.

Koscielny’s deal with the Gunners expires next summer.

Should Arsenal balk at that suggestion, the Gunners centre-half is reportedly set to command a 10 million euro transfer fee.

Koscielny is known to suffer from chronic Achilles problems.

Those injury problems forced Koscielny to miss France’s triumphant 2018 World Cup winning campaign in Russia.

At the same time, Koscielny’s recent activity on Instagram raised eyebrows about the defender’s ongoing future with the Gunners.
