Frank Lampard: Paul Pogba helped Man United vs Liverpool (MOTD Videos)

Man United 2 – Liverpool 1

Marcus Rashford stole the show for Man United at Old Trafford on Saturday.

In a pivotal match in the race for second place, Man United moved five points clear of Liverpool.

Two first half goals from Rashford put Jose Mourinho’s men in the box seat against the Reds.

An Eric Bailly own goal from a Sadio Mane cross gave Liverpool second half hope, but Man United held on for the win.

Frank Lampard on Paul Pogba

One player who missed the United win was French star Paul Pogba.

Pogba had to withdraw from the match after he picked up an injury in United’s final training session on Friday.

Of course, it’s been a difficult few months for Pogba at Old Trafford as Jose Mourinho has dropped him from the XI.

On the BBC’s Match of the Day show, Frank Lampard made the case that Pogba’s absence actually helped United against Liverpool.

Many could interpret Lampard’s comments as a sign Man United should consider leaving their 100 million euro man out of the team.

Marcus Rashford & World Cup

Whether Marcus Rashford should be in the England XI for the 2018 World Cup in Russia remains up for debate.

But after the Liverpool game, the talking-heads on the BBC were in agreement that Rashford has to be part of the Three Lions squad this summer.
