Lampard gives update on Abraham/Confirms Giroud will stay at Chelsea

Leicester vs Chelsea

Saturday’s early Premier League kick-off will see Chelsea travel to Leicester City.

You can check out 101’s betting tips for the clash here.

Both sides head into this tie in fairly poor form, by their standards at least.

The Foxes were bested by relegation-battling Aston Villa in a League Cup semi-final earlier this week, and have won just one of their last three Premier League outings.

As for Chelsea, they have picked up just one victory in four PL games, and are in danger of dropping out of the top-four.

The London outfit will begin the weekend 4th, with Manchester United, Tottenham and Wolves all just six points adrift of Chelsea.

Lampard on Giroud & Abraham

Frank Lampard would hold his pre-Leicester press conference on Friday.

During the presser, Lampard spoke about two of Chelsea’s frontmen.

Olivier Giroud has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge this month.

But when asked on Friday if Giroud would be leaving, Lampard replied:

“No.”

The Chelsea boss was then asked if the Frenchman is happy with that situation, to which he responded:

“Olivier Giroud in this window has been incredible as a professional and as a man. We all know that there has been interest and I have sat here in every press conference and said ‘if its right for Olivier, for myself and the club’ and he has been impeccable in that period. I have got huge respect for him for that and as a player. The answer again is no. Will he leave? No.”

Lampard was also asked how Tammy Abraham’s injury was, with the English tactician having confirmed that the Chelsea hitman trained on Friday:

“He has trained today and felt okay. We need to see if there is a reaction because it is a pain injury. There is a lot of pain and even in training he has pain. So I am going to look at that one overnight and test him in the morning.

“He did get out there today which is a positive in the longer term.”
