Lampard confirms Rudiger in Chelsea squad to face Lille/Tomori & Giroud injured

Chelsea vs Lille

Chelsea are set to play their final Champions League group game of the 2019/20 season on Tuesday.

While a number of clubs have already secured their spot in the CL last 16, Chelsea’s group is very much wide open.

All of Ajax, Valencia and Chelsea are all still able to both qualify from Group H, and top it.

The London outfit head into the Lille clash sat 3rd in Group H, behind 2nd placed Valencia on goal difference, and two points off table-topping Ajax.

But as long as Frank Lampard’s side emerge from Stamford Bridge with a victory on Tuesday, they will qualify for the knockout stages.

Should Chelsea draw with the French outfit, they would have to hope that Ajax beat Valencia in the remaining group H tie.

The only way that Chelsea are able to top their CL group is if they beat Lille by more goals than Valencia beat Ajax, should the Spanish powerhouse indeed beat last season’s Champions League semi-finalists.

Lampard on Giroud, Rudiger & Tomori

Ahead of the pivotal clash with Lille, Frank Lampard held his pre-match press conference on Monday afternoon.

During the presser, Lampard spoke about Antonio Rudiger, Olivier Giroud and Fikayo Tomori.

The Chelsea boss confirmed that Rudiger, who has not featured for Chelsea’s senior side since being injured vs Wolves back in September, is in the squad vs Lille.

But while Chelsea have welcomed back one central defender, another has been ruled out of Tuesday’s clash, as Lampard also confirmed that Tomori is out with a small hip strain.

Lampard also mentioned that Giroud is out injured.
